How to dress
Dress for Arctic conditions, not just for the city.
A significant part of the Lapland Aurora World experience takes place outdoors in genuine Arctic winter conditions. Temperatures can drop below –20°C, so warm clothing and appropriate winter footwear are essential.
We recommend dressing in layers:
Base layer – Thermal underwear worn next to the skin. Merino wool is an excellent choice, as it is naturally warm and helps regulate body temperature.
Mid layer – A warm layer of wool or fleece.
Outer layer – A warm, insulated winter jacket and winter trousers.
Winter footwear – Warm, well-insulated winter boots with enough room for thick socks.
Hat and gloves – A warm hat that covers your ears, together with insulated gloves or mittens.
Warm socks – Preferably wool.
Lapland Aurora World does not provide winter clothing. If you don't have clothing suitable for Arctic conditions, winter clothing and footwear can be rented from various rental shops in Rovaniemi.
Dressing properly makes a big difference. When you are warm and comfortable, you can forget about the cold and focus on experiencing the Arctic night.
